Izzy Hawthorne (Star Command suit) is a character introduced in the 2022 film, Lightyear. She is a member of the Junior Zap Patrol and aspires to be a Space Ranger like her grandmother, Alisha Hawthorne.
Izzy is determined, resourceful, and initially struggles to live up to the legendary reputation of her grandmother and the Space Rangers in general. She is part of a ragtag team helping Buzz Lightyear fight Emperor Zurg and his robot army.
While not the same character as the toy Buzz Lightyear in the *Toy Story* franchise, Izzy's experiences and the ideals she embodies contribute significantly to the Buzz Lightyear that Andy would eventually receive as a toy, explaining the toy's catchphrases and heroic persona.
She ultimately embraces her own strengths and becomes a capable leader, choosing to stay in the present time to help build a new Star Command alongside her friends. She is portrayed as a strong, independent young woman who honors her family's legacy while forging her own path.
